2. Coach Development


Repton HC encourages all our coaches to take responsibility for their development in the following areas:

1) Professional Development - Technical

All Repton HC coaches can access the England Hockey Hockey Hub and are encouraged to book on a range of Coaching Courses to continue their development and to be suitably qualified.

Each Repton HC coach should complete the England Hockey 'Introduction to Hockey Coaching' course as a minimum, and we would encourage each coach to complete the 'England Hockey Sessional Coach' course to be able to lead groups independently. Both of these courses can be booked through the EH Hockey Hub linked above.

In addition to these courses, England Hockey run a number of short courses on a regular basis such as 'Engaging Games for Children' and 'Coaching for Talent'. We encourage our coaches to book on these courses and to share their learning with other club coaches.

2) Professional Development - Personal

All Repton HC coaches are encouraged to invest time in personal development. Further information and resources can be found on the UK Coaching website UK Coaching

Repton HC have access to a number of sport psychology professionals who are available for an informal discussion about any aspect of this development.

Repton HC also offers all coaches the opportunity to complete a professional development tool called The Spotlight Profile. Completing The Spotlight Profile encourages reflection upon coaching mindset and behavioural styles and can help the coach to become more self-aware in their approach to coaching.
