Just a week after their well-fought game with Beeston, the Repton U16 Boys faced Sutton Coldfield in the next round of the England Hockey Tier 1 Championships. The cold weather did not deter Sutton who began brightly and took advantage of a Repton lack of concentration to open the scoring after just two minutes. Shortly after the visitors wasted an opportunity to further extend their lead, Repton began to link more effectively in midfield and this led to a number of penalty corners won. James Gould and Harry Stone executed set-plays well to put Repton ahead before well-taken open goals from Harry Stone and George Fletcher gave the home side a 4-1 advantage.
The second half saw a much more dominant performance from Repton as James Gould added three more, superbly assisted by Tyler Kim for one, before Sam Cossey scored a fine solo goal. Further well-taken goals from Cossey and Stone put Repton well clear before Tyler Kim completed the scoring.
Despite the large scoreline, Sutton Coldfield played some good hockey and were superb in their approach throughout.
