In the latest round of fixtures in the England Hockey Tier 1 Championship, Repton faced an experienced Sutton Coldfield in a tough away fixture. Sutton started the quicker of the two teams and forced goalie, Josh Parish, into some excellent saves early on. The early pressure continued through the first half with Repton struggling to maintain possession for any sustained periods. In what was quite an open game, a lack of urgency in the Repton defensive work rate resulted in Sutton having space to play into and they took a deserved 2-0 lead into half time.

The 2nd half showed some improvements from Repton as we started to put some nice passing moves together through Will Tarrant and Ollie Ewart-White, however we still struggled to breakdown an organised defense. A third Sutton Coldfield goal put the game to bed as our younger legs started to show. The game finished 0-3 in what was a challenging game against an older team who had been playing together for a long time, and our lack of urgency in tracking back defensively ultimately cost us. Some notable performances were from Josh Parish in goal who made some good saves to keep us in the game, and to Augustus Wenham for some excellent tackles in our D. This leaves plenty for the side to work on in training for the remaining games in this competition which is played in a league format with the top teams qualifying for the Midlands round.
