On Sunday, the Repton Ladies’ 1st XI travelled to Loughborough for a Cup game in front of a very excitable and vocal home crowd. The home supporters were cheered by an early goal for Loughborough in the very first minute. Once the game restarted, Repton settled. Claudia Swain levelled the score, only for Loughborough to pull away again to a 2-1 lead. In what was a test of character given the occasion, the Repton team responded with maturity beyond their young years. They started to dominate play, initially levelling the score again through another Swain goal before Imo Hatton put Repton into the lead. Repton carried this lead of 3-2 into the half-time break.
The second half was a much more dominant display by the guests, with Repton scoring four unanswered goals (Swain 2, Ayelen Roland and Emma Thornbury) resulting in a comfortable win of 7-2 after their slow start.
