After a successful indoor season

With the astro back in action after the recent flooding, this weekend we kick off the second half of the outdoor season with adult and junior fixtures and the return of weekly training, starting with our U10s and U8s minis session this Sunday morning.

Super 6s Summary

Juniors

After a 6 week indoor training programme in the Repton Sports Hall the commitment of our players to the indoor game paid off with the U16 Boys, U18 Boys and U18 Girls qualifying as Midlands Champions for the National Super 6s . For the first time the club were able to enter Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams into the Midlands Indoor rounds with over 60 juniors having the opportunity to experience competitive indoor match play.

Over an incredibly busy indoor weekend, and with many junior players involved in the Adult Super 6s competition, we were therefore able to field competitive teams at the Junior Indoor Nationals last weekend. Congratulations to the U16 Boys and U18 Boys who both reached the National semi-finals as pool winners and finished joint 3rd in the country. The U18 Girls had tough pool tests against Surbiton and Clifton but finished strongly with a 3-1 win vs Wakefield to see them placed 6th in the country.

Official photographs of the National weekend can be found on the Take That Photo Gallery (password to the gallery is ehb24) and you can view the club Junior Indoor Gallery when logged in to the club website.

Adults

Once again the England Hockey Women's Super 6s Premier Division was hosted in the Repton Sports Hall and the Stratstone UK W1s stepped up against the largest EHL clubs in the country. Wins against Bowdon (2-0) and Leicester (5-2) and a narrow loss vs Surbiton (3-4) impressed the crowd with the young team, led by Captain Erica Sanders (ex GB International, OR) and joined by guest Esme Burge (ex GB International, OR) finishing 7th overall to keep their well earned place in the Super 6s Premier Division for 24/25.

The Mens Indoor team, supported by the Bulls Head Repton and Baron and Grant, had some close battles in the England Hockey Super 6s Division One, finishing 6th overalll and maintaining their spot in the league for next season. Led by player /coach Adam Dixon and joined by guests Simon Claris (OR) and Harry Stone (GB EDP, OR) highlights included a 3-3 draw against eventual league winners Southgate HC, a 5-1 win vs Loughborough Students, a 7-4 win vs Brooklands and a narrow 5-6 loss vs Beeston. Congratulations to U18 player Julius von Flack who led the Repton goal scorers, coming joint 6th in the league with 14 goals over the two weekends.
Thank you to Aisha for the fantastic photos from both weekends of the Men's Super 6s which can be viewed when logged in at Mens' Super 6s Weekend 1 and Mens' Super 6s Weekend 2.

Looking Ahead...

The M1s start the second half of their league campaign this weekend travelling to Sutton Coldfield for their first outdoor fixture of 2024. They face a battle for the one promotion spot in the Midlands Hockey Premier Division against current league leaders Khalsa HC who they will host in a return fixture this Tuesday at 7.45pm under the Repton lights, so do come down and show your support!

The W1s sit top of the the table in their first season in the England Hockey Midlands Conference and will be looking to continue their impressive form as they host Cannock for their first outdoor fixture of 2024 on Wednesday evening at 7.45pm.

The M2s sit in 3rd place in Midlands Division 4 East with a game in hand and have an important weekend ahead as they host Panthers and travel to top of the table Loughborough Students. Two wins would see them top the table as they look to compete for a promotion spot through the second half of the season.

The junior Midlands Leagues continue this weekend and we look forward to welcoming Bowdon (U14 Girls), Lindum (U16 Boys) and Chester (U16 Girls) to Repton. Our U12 boys and girls travel to North Staffs and Beeston respectively for friendly tournaments as they gear up for the 2024 In2 Hockey competitions later in the season.

Hockey Camps

We are once again pleased to promote our U14 Girls' Partner MT13 Hockey who launch their Academy 13 programme here at Repton on Wednesday evenings, starting on 31st January. It's also time to plan ahead and book on to their half term camps at Repton with their fun 2 day camp running on 12th /13th February and their Elite Day camp on Wednesday 14th January.
