After a weekend break in league action, Repton W1 returned to the pitch with renewed energy to take on top-of-the-table Gloucester City. The squad welcomed the return of RHC legend Poppy B and celebrated the comeback of Freya A following her injury.
Repton set the tempo from the first whistle, applying early pressure and forcing multiple turnovers in midfield. Their dominance paid off just before the end of the first quarter, when a well-won penalty corner was finished by Maya C, giving Repton a deserved 1–0 lead.
That momentum carried into the second quarter, and in the 24th minute, some slick link-up play carved open the Gloucester defence once again, with Maya finishing confidently to double the advantage.
Gloucester responded and began to grow into the game. In the 33rd minute, an aerial ball into the Repton 25 led to a chance for former GB player Sally Walton, who converted to reduce the deficit heading into half-time.
But Repton weren’t fazed. Just two minutes into the third quarter, Kat M struck to restore the two-goal cushion and reassert control. The intensity lifted further, and as the match grew more physical, Gloucester found themselves shown green cards for repeated fouls.
The hosts continued to threaten on the counter but couldn’t earn further penalty corners to extend their lead. At the other end, Gloucester mounted sustained pressure through a series of corners of their own, Kate W and the defensive corner unit stood strong time and time again.
With just minutes remaining, Gloucester finally broke through via another set piece to make it 3–2, setting up a tense finish. But Repton held firm, managing the final phase superbly to secure a hard-earned victory and three valuable league points.
It was a standout performance from the W1, arguably showcasing some of their best attacking link-up play of the season so far. Next up: a big clash against newly relegated from the Prem Sutton Coldfield, as Repton look to build on this excellent display.
W1 won 3-2 VS Gloucester City
Player of the Match: Maya C
Coming into the fixture with five consecutive wins, Repton M1 were full of confidence as they faced a strong student side under the lights for a 6pm pushback. A lively crowd of Repton supporters packed the sidelines, ready to cheer the men on.
The game opened with fast-paced action at both ends, with Nottingham earning a couple of early penalty corners. Ambrose stood tall in goal, producing key saves to keep Repton level in the opening exchanges. Repton soon found their rhythm, and in the 14th minute Adam D fired home from a penalty corner to break the deadlock and give the hosts a 1–0 lead heading into the first break.
Both sides continued to threaten throughout the remainder of the half, but neither were able to convert further chances. Repton took their narrow advantage into half-time.
Repton came out fighting in the third quarter, maintaining strong possession and pressing with intent. Nottingham responded with increased physicality, which saw them reduced to 10 men. Repton capitalised on the momentum, building a smart attacking move that Dom B finished clinically to double the lead with a well-crafted field goal.
Nottingham, however, struck back almost immediately to reduce the deficit, making it 2–1 heading into the final quarter and setting up a tense finish.
The battle intensified in the closing stages, with both sides working tirelessly to keep each other at bay. George M served a brief two-minute suspension, but the defensive unit held firm as Repton saw out the final minutes with composure and determination.
The Men’s 1s now sit proudly at the top of the table,18 points from 6 games, maintaining a perfect record. A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support under the lights!

Repton M2 returned to action for their fifth match of the season, hosting league-leaders Rugby & East Warwickshire M2s. Despite facing tough opposition, Repton took control from the opening whistle, dominating possession and confidently playing through the Rugby press thanks to sharp distribution from the back.
Their strong start earned a string of first-half penalty corners, but Rugby’s defensive unit showed real determination to keep the ball out. The closest Repton came to opening the scoring arrived after intense pressure from the forward line, with Jasper S forcing an outstanding save from the Rugby goalkeeper to deny a blistering strike.
As the half wore on, Rugby adjusted their outlet structure and enjoyed a brief spell of possession, yet still failed to seriously test the Repton defence. The sides went into the break level at 0–0.
Repton resumed the second half with renewed energy, and their pressing once again caused problems. More shots rained in from open play and penalty corners alike, only for the Rugby goalkeeper to continue frustrating the hosts with a series of excellent stops.
Rugby threatened sporadically on the break, but Repton’s back line held firm to ensure the visitors never found a breakthrough. As the final whistle blew, both teams took positives: Repton for a dominant performance full of control and chances, and Rugby for battling to secure a point in a match they could have easily lost.
M2 drew 0-0 vs Rugby and East Warwickshire

It was a beautiful autumn afternoon at Repton as the U16 Boys hosted Beeston, with Sam C managing the team and a fantastic turnout of parents providing support from the sidelines.
The match began evenly, with both sides demonstrating impressive skill and determination. However, Repton’s structured defence proved too strong for Beeston, who struggled to create clear chances throughout the game.
Repton’s breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Alex B opened the scoring for Repton with a well-taken goal that set the tone for the rest of the match. Just a minute later, Ali C doubled the lead with a sharp finish, giving Repton firm control before the break.
In the second half, Repton continued to dominate possession and press forward confidently. Their efforts were rewarded in the 28th minute when Ben L added a third goal to seal a convincing 3–0 victory.
With his outstanding performance and crucial opening goal, Alex B was deservedly named Coach’s Player of the Match.
Overall, it was a superb team display from Repton, disciplined in defence, creative in attack, and fully deserving of the win.

The U14 Boys continued their League Campaign with an away fixture to Sutton Coldfield.
With the pre-match warm up time limited due to pitch availability, preparation was not ideal however this did not stop the boys from applying their usual high pressing game straight from the push back.
Within 10 minutes they found themselves 2 goals to the good with Leo F returning to the team to bag his first of two for the day, and Henry M continuing his fine goal scoring form (his first of two also).
With the team facing the low sun in the first half, although we closed out the first half 4 goals to the good (Ollie and Leo), play was often a little scrappy and the team struggled to find their rhythm.
The second half started in the same vein as the first, Matthew B scoring twice within 5 minutes after some excellent wing play from Mac. The teams game play was much improved in the second half and although Sutton managed to create a couple of opportunities, Hector was only called into action during a short corner routine which ultimately led to nothing.
Repton went on to command the rest of the half with Henry scoring his second midway through before Alexander scored his first for the club in the last 5 minutes. There was enough time however for Nye (the match day birthday boy) to get a well earned goal in the dying minutes.
Another strong win for the team, who continue to impress both with match play and their attitude and work ethic.
A special mention to Harry J who unfortunately took a knock before the game, but shook it off and had an excellent game in midfield, often a great catalyst throughout linking defence to attack.
The team now face Stourport who sit alongside them at the top of the area league, and will provide a stern test for them in our next couple of outings, a doubleheader in the cup and league.
Boys’ U14 won 9-0 VS Sutton Coldfield
On the last day of half term, the Repton U16G White made the long trip to Stourport in lovely weather, though a few tired faces were spotted on arrival.
Repton started brightly, with Anna W opening the scoring after just nine minutes with a neat finish. Stourport, always a physical and determined side, hit back to level things up before half-time, making it 1–1 at the break.
After the restart, Repton began to find their rhythm again. Anna bagged her second to put Repton back in front, and although Stourport kept pushing, the visitors’ attacking flair shone through. Phoebe H added another to stretch the lead, before Anna completed her hat-trick to seal a confident 4–2 victory.
It was a great team performance full of effort, energy, and resilience after a long journey.

A really positive 60 minutes of U12 Girls hockey this morning in the sunshine. We were a couple short due to illness, but the girls all stepped up and after a slow start played some nice hockey by the end to come back for a 5-5 draw.
Big thanks to Stourport for a very friendly welcome and enjoyable match for all. Plenty to work on but also some excellent play and potential for later in the season.
