Read match reports here!

A great weekend for the club with 11 teams in action. Thank you to all parents, supporters, players, coaches and managers for their time and dedication. Overall, the club came away with 7 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses which was a great success, especially considering juggling players with match clashes on Sunday. Please find match reports from most games below. At the start of the majority games, one-minute silences were held to mark Armistice Day. We will remember them.

The Repton Women’s 1s were back on the road this Saturday, making a short trip to Sutton Coldfield for a midday pushback. With Sutton newly promoted to the league this season, it was a fresh challenge for Repton-the sides having only met previously in the Indoor competition.
The opening exchanges were evenly matched, with chances created at both ends. Repton capitalised on a quick counterattack to win an early penalty corner, which was upgraded to a penalty flick. A narrow miss from the Repton striker meant the score remained level.
Sutton soon settled into the game, maintaining longer spells of possession and putting sustained pressure on the Repton defence. A series of superb saves from goalkeeper Kate W, supported by a solid penalty corner defence unit, kept the visitors in contention as the clock ticked past the 30-minute mark.
Eventually, Sutton’s persistence paid off, a well-taken penalty corner in the 33rd minute broke the deadlock and gave the hosts a 1–0 lead going into half-time.
Repton emerged from the break with renewed energy and intent, but Sutton matched their intensity, turning the second half into a tightly contested battle. Just before the three-quarter mark, Sutton doubled their lead with a penalty corner deflection to make it 2–0.
Refusing to back down, Repton found another gear in the closing stages. Sustained attacking pressure led to a penalty corner, which Emilia K converted to reduce the deficit. Despite several late chances and Penalty corners, time ran out for the visitors, and Sutton held on to claim all three points.
While the result was disappointing, the performance showed plenty of promise from this young Repton side-a clear sign of growth and potential as they look ahead to next week’s clash against a physical uni team.

After a dream start in their new league, winning six from six, Repton M1 faced their first real test of the season with an away trip to Harborne on a blustery Sunday afternoon. With several players unavailable through injury, GMS issues, and fixture clashes, Repton travelled with a slightly altered lineup and a few nerves in the camp.
Harborne started strongly, adapting quickly to their home surface and putting early pressure on the visitors. Their dominance paid off just before the end of the first quarter, taking the lead through a well-finished field goal.
In the second quarter, Harborne continued to apply pressure, forcing Repton’s goalkeeper Ambrose into several sharp saves. The hosts soon doubled their lead with another tidy finish to make it 2–0.
Repton, however, responded quickly. Just three minutes later, Jono H opened the scoring for the visitors with a well-executed penalty corner to bring them back into the contest. Harborne hit straight back to restore their two-goal cushion at 3–1, but Repton weren’t done yet. Dom B found the net just before half-time to reduce the deficit once more.
The intensity lifted across the pitch as both sides began to show their physical edge. Ben H was shown a green card for a challenge, giving Repton a brief spell with ten men. The break came at a good time for both teams, with the score finely poised at 3–2.
The second half continued in the same fashion, end-to-end and full of physical battles. Harborne were next to see a card as the game became increasingly stop-start. Both teams had good chances in the third and fourth quarters, but neither could take full advantage. A flurry of cards followed in the final 20 minutes, with each team picking up both a yellow and a green as tempers flared and the game hung in the balance.
Then, in the dying moments of the match, Adam D drove the ball into a Harborne defender’s foot inside the circle to win a late penalty corner. Amid the chaos, James S was on hand to deflect the ball in and secure a dramatic 3–3 draw.
While not their finest performance, the M1s showed resilience to fight back and take a valuable point on the road, maintaining their position comfortably at the top of the table, three points clear.
Next up, they face Loughborough in what promises to be another high-intensity encounter. Congratulations also go to Thomas F, who made his M1 debut this weekend, a proud moment for the young player.

Beeston struck first in the 13th minute, capitalising on a long aerial ball from deep in defence that bypassed the Repton midfield and found their forwards in space. A well-worked two-on-two move ended with a clinical finish, giving Beeston the early advantage. Despite the setback, Repton’s defence quickly adapted, closing down the channels that had been exposed and tightening their structure for the remainder of the match.
The intensity continued throughout the first half, with Repton creating several promising chances. Their persistence was rewarded in the 31st minute when Edward W levelled the score, finishing confidently after a period of sustained pressure.
In the second half, Repton began to dominate possession and dictate the rhythm of play. Beeston grew visibly frustrated, and in the 53rd minute Ted H fired home a superb goal to give Repton a deserved 2–1 lead. The closing stages were fiercely contested, with Repton defending resolutely and continuing to threaten on the counter.
Beeston received two green cards late in the match, a sign of their growing frustration as Repton maintained control. The final whistle confirmed a hard-fought 2–1 victory, securing Repton’s place in the next round of the cup.
A strong team performance, full of energy, discipline, and belief. A well-earned win for the U18 boys.

Both the U16 Boys and U18 Girls travelled together to Bowdon for what promised to be a highly competitive round of fixtures.
The girls’ game got off to an electric start, with Bowdon shocking Repton by scoring just two minutes into the match. However, Repton quickly settled and began to take control, pressing high and creating chances. Their persistence paid off in the 5th minute when Jess L calmly finished to level the score.
Just a minute later, Repton’s momentum continued as Jess L struck again to put her side 2–1 ahead. Bowdon regrouped and created opportunities of their own, but Repton maintained the upper hand, winning a short corner in the 25th minute which Issy M converted beautifully with a powerful drag flick.
The pressure continued as Repton’s forwards pressed aggressively, forcing turnovers and counterattacks. Three minutes before the break, Elodie P added a fourth to make it 4–1 at half-time.
The second half was a more balanced affair, with Bowdon pushing forward and Repton absorbing pressure well. Repton GK making several key saves to deny Bowdon any chance of a comeback.

In the boys’ match, Repton started confidently, showing great energy and purpose. Their efforts were rewarded in the 10th minute when Alex B opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. The team continued to dominate possession and, 13 minutes later, Julius doubled the lead after some excellent build-up play.
The game tightened in the middle stages, with both teams creating chances but unable to find the net. Repton’s patience paid off once again when Alex B grabbed his second goal to make it 3–0.
Bowdon came out fighting in the second half and managed to pull one back in the 55th minute, but Repton’s defensive discipline ensured the score stayed 3–1 until the final whistle.
A superb team effort from both squads, showcasing skill, determination, and teamwork. A particularly impressive performance after a long week of matches.

Repton U16 boys put in a determined and disciplined performance against Rugby & East Warwickshire, despite fielding several new players to the squad, including boys from B Block. Playing with no substitutes and adapting to unfamiliar positions, the team showed strong cohesion from the start.
Although Repton conceded from a short corner just one minute into the match, they quickly settled and grew in confidence. The side matched Rugby well throughout the first half, pressing effectively and creating a short-corner opportunity in the 24th minute that tested the Rugby defence.
Goalkeeper Duncan, making his first appearance of the season following injury, produced several impressive saves and displayed sharp reactions throughout the match.
The second half demanded even greater resilience, with Repton continuing with the same 11 players while Rugby rotated fresh legs from their four available substitutes. Early in the half, Duncan made another strong save from a Rugby short corner, keeping the scoreline tight. Repton responded immediately, earning a short corner of their own and applying sustained pressure.
Just a minute later, Taran finished clinically to level the match at 1–1, giving Repton deserved momentum. For the next phase of the game, the match remained evenly matched, with Repton competing strongly across the pitch.
However, heading into the final quarter, the lack of substitutes began to take its toll. The Repton players, having worked tirelessly all match, came under increasing pressure from a refreshed Rugby side. Rugby were able to take advantage of this fatigue, scoring twice late on to secure the win.
As the intensity increased, Rugby received a warning for aggressive play when the referee stopped the match to speak with their captain, this was shortly followed with a late card for Dexter, yet Repton continued to battle to the final whistle. Duncan capped his performance with another excellent save in the closing moments.
Despite the 1–3 scoreline, Repton demonstrated impressive teamwork, commitment, and adaptability. For much of the match, the sides were evenly matched; it was only the unavoidable lack of substitutions that placed Repton under severe late pressure and ultimately allowed Rugby to pull away. The 11 boys who played showed outstanding determination throughout.

On a cold and blustery Remembrance Sunday, Repton made the 80-mile round trip to Cheshire to face Alderley Edge Girls U14A in the second round of the cup. A minute’s silence was respectfully observed before kick-off to mark Armistice Day.
Lining up in a 3-5-2 formation, Repton dominated from the outset. Within four minutes, Darcey M who was facing her former team had the first attempt on goal. The visitors maintained relentless pressure, barely allowing Alderley Edge out of their own half. Their efforts paid off in the 8th minute when a short corner routine led to the opening goal, finished neatly by Erin L.
Alderley Edge threatened for the first time in the 14th minute, only to see their effort cleared off the line by the resilient Repton defence. Just a minute later, a flowing move started by Emily E and Jess HM resulted in Repton’s second goal, again finished by Erin L.
At the 23rd minute, Alderley Edge pieced together some good passing to win a short corner, but Repton’s defence stood firm and cleared the danger. Two minutes later, Darcy P extended Repton’s lead to 3–0 with her first of the match. However, Alderley Edge quickly responded with a powerful strike from the edge of the D, leaving Repton goalkeeper Annie T with no chance.
Despite Repton’s dominance, Alderley Edge earned another short corner soon after, but Thompson produced a superb save to keep the scoreline intact. The final action of the half came in the 35th minute when Amelia W surged forward from midfield and set up Darcy P, who coolly slotted home her second to make it 4–1 at half-time.
Repton started the second half just as strongly as they finished the first, piling on the pressure with a series of early attacks. Despite a few missed chances, Alderley Edge broke forward and earned a short corner, but Repton’s defence stayed solid to clear the danger.
In the 39th minute, Amelia W combined with Darcy P, allowing Partington to complete her hat-trick and extend Repton’s lead to 5–1. Alderley Edge continued to battle and earned another short corner in the 47th minute, but once again Annie T made a fantastic save to deny them.
Repton’s relentless press earned them a short corner in the 49th minute, converted confidently by Erin L for her hat-trick. The visitors then produced some excellent team play, resulting in two quick-fire goals from Sadie M and Jessica HM in the 54th and 55th minutes respectively.
Darcy P capped off a superb display with her fourth goal in the 57th minute to make it 9–1. Repton continued to press in the closing stages, earning one final short corner that Alderley Edge managed to clear, before the hosts grabbed a late consolation from a short corner in the 70th minute to make it 9–2.
It was a dominant team performance from Repton, full of energy and quality finishing resulting in the team marching confidently into the third round of the cup.

Girls’ U14 won 9-2 VS Alderley Edge

Round 2 of the U14 Boys Tier 1 Cup Competition saw the Repton team visiting Stourport for a late afternoon pushback.
Travelling and late starts often can hamper a teams’ performance however as is customary now for this Junior group of boys, straight from the pushback the teams’ high press and some excellent hockey put Repton firmly in control. Within 10 minutes Repton were 3 goals up, the first a nicely worked goal to allow Ollie N to finish from a tight angle, followed by Jay W from a Penalty Corner and a second from Ollie N, allowing the Stourport team little time to gain any form of momentum.
A change of format to the game, with 4 x 15min quarters being played, seemed to shift the momentum after each break. The Stourport team’s possession improved as the game wore on although the Repton defence remained firm and had little to do defensively in the opening two quarters, and instead were supporting the attack on both wings through Jack F, Archie N and Charlie B.
By the time the second quarter ended Repton were comfortably ahead by 5 goals with Ollie N completing his hatrick with a cool finish on 23mins followed by a really well worked PC to give Jay W his second.
Shortly after the half time break Leo F added a 6th however the team then started to show signs of tiredness and Stourport seemed to be gaining the impetus.
As the 4th quarter started Stourport got their first sniff of the Repton goal with Hector C having to make a couple of good saves.
Stourport then rolled the dice, took off their GK and with 11 outfield players found another gear, with the Repton team struggling to get a foothold on the game.
A strange 5 mins then saw Stourport grab 3 goals, putting our midfield and backline under a high press and overloading, the extra man making a huge difference.
At 6 v 3, Stourport broke through 1 on 1 however Hector C was quickly out to save what would surely have been a 4th and a very nervy end to the game.
Luckily Repton found a moment to dig deep, regroup, gather a little bit of composure and take hold of the game in the final few minutes to see it out with a 6 v 3 victory.
A good win in the cup and more importantly a good test for the team having come under pressure in the final 15 of this game.A break next week, we then host Stourport and we expect the Repton team to now be weary of a potentially dangerous opposition in our next T1 League game on the 23rd November.
