Ladies:

England Hockey Altiusrt - Ladies Div 2 North

The ladies played five matches in a group of six. Two were played on the Saturday and three on the Sunday; all matches were 20 minutes each way making it a gruelling weekend. Saturday's draw saw us meet more straightforward opponents and regulation wins against Leeds (7-2) and Cannock (11-2) set up a competitive Sunday. Sunday was a large step up and the ladies beat eventual group winners Brooklands 6-4 after being tied 2-2 at half time. There was a 7-4 loss to Stourport before a crucial fixture versus Team Bath Buccaneers. Repton's superior goal advantage going into the last game meant that an important third spot was almost guaranteed but not certain as Bath raced to a 5-2 lead. Captain, Emilia Kaczmarczyk, pulled back an important goal for Repton, thereby reducing the deficit before a complete second half performance saw Repton claim an 8-6 victory and clinch a place in National League Division 2.

The group was so tight that a single goal separated the top three teams - Brooklands, Repton and Stourport, all tied on 12 points due to each losing a game. Brooklands top the table as their goal difference was one better than both Repton’s and Stourport’s. Repton came second due to their superior goals scored vs Stourport.

Hannah Davey won the leading goalscorer of the tournament award with 15 goals and Great Britain international, Ellie Watton, was second with 10 goals.

Many thanks to Adrian Davey for managing the team over the weekend.

Men:

England Hockey Altiusrt - Men Division 2 North

In contract to the ladies, the Bulls Head men had their tough games on the Saturday. The first game did not go to plan with Repton losing 6-7 to an experienced indoor side, Bedford, in a very tight game. Bedford got off to a flying start with three goals in the first 6 minutes, and Repton trailed throughout. Despite a late comeback, Bedford held on to earn the win.

Doncaster HC were defeated 8-5 in game two which was a much improved indoor performance. With the scores level at half-time, Simon Claris converted second-half penalty corners to round off an excellent performance and take the men back up a table that they had propped up hours earlier.

Further improved performances on Sunday led to comfortable victories over Deeside (10-2) and Sheffield Hallam (12-2) with a tough game against Bournville sandwiched in between. A greater discipline saw the men with a 6-2 victory in a game that was closer than the score line suggests.

Repton topped the table ahead of Bedford with a superior goal difference with Doncaster also qualifying, coming in third. Simon Claris won the leading goalscorer award with a staggering 23 goals. Many thanks to Diane Bellin for managing the team over the weekend and to our many supporters who made the trip.
